Bully behavior

Question
Our bully is almost 12 weeks. I've seen a lot of questions about aggressive behavior and am of the conclusion that it's somewhat normal behavior. Ours seems to be most aggressive/biting/mostly chewing towards the end of the day which I have at most time attributed to being tired. One question I haven't seen asked or answered is how should we respond when he he becomes aggressive or chews. I've treated aggressive behavior by kenneling him. We always try to give him something to chew on when he chooses to chew on us. I know he's not a bad dog we just want to know the best way to teach him to be a socially responsible pet. Thanks!

Answer
I get this question all the time about young puppies. What you have to keep in mind is that a puppy's frame of social reference is it's siblings. It's way of communicating is by growling and biting and chewing on it's brother or sister until they react.

When he bites you, pinch is lip hard and give a resounding "NO BITE!" and then give him his chew toy.  You can also take him by the scruff of the neck and shake him until he protests loudly again, with the "NO BITE".

Worse case, if all else fails, when he bites you, bite him back!  Seriously, if he bites hard, take his paw and bit his toe until he screams and then growl sternly at him and walk away.  It works!
