moving to an apartment with my hyper bulldog

Question
I will be moving into my UPSTAIRS apartment today.  My bulldog is 6 mos old,
and crazier than ever.  I am concerned with him being upstairs and having to
walk downstairs to eliminate.  He was coming along well with potty training
until the weather changed.  He is now afraid to go outside.  I have switched to
puppy pads and  he just tears those up.  I do not feel comfortable with him
possibly eating them.  (they are the kind that stick to the floor even!) I am
unsure what the next step would be when we move into the apartment.  I
don't mind taking him outside but he will have to take stairs and I don't want
that causing problems in the future.  Please help!
thanks

Answer
I guess the obvious question is, why get an upstairs apartment when you know your dog is going to have difficulty with the stairs?

All you can do now is carry on with his training and hopefully the stairs won't be much of an issue.  If they are, you'll have to deal with it when the time comes.  If you're not using a crate, that would be a good idea to help with the house training.

If there are problems, you will notice it in his knees first, not his hips.  Be aware as to whether or not he's hitting his knees on the stairs going up.
