Question
I just got a female 4 Yr. old Boston Terrier, the breeder just retired her and told me she was house trained. She is very good when I'm around but If I need to be out for more than 5 Hrs. most likely she will pee inside. She won't brake anything. She just got Spayed three weeks ago and she flew from Illinois. I want to know what to do , BC I got a Male Boston 4 years too and never had a  accident in the house. Thanks

Answer
Hi Maria....

Your new little girl is going through some changes, traveling, a new home, new people, surgery, and a new playmate. She will take most of her security from you and your absence when you leave distresses her on top of all the changes. Chances are, her breeder/owner had other dogs as well and usualy they are crated most of the time...because breeding females will fight each other in heat and for dominance. She is spayed now so that is not a concern for you. The housebreaking may be until she has settled down and knows you love her. So...you may well need to crate her when you leave. Dogs actually love their crates, it is their "den" and they will not potty in it. Do not worry overmuch. She will adjust, it may just take a bit. I'd say up to 3 months, maybe not that long.
Best to you...Lisa
