Boston Terrier allergy

Question
QUESTION: We have a Terrier that is 1yr and 1 month old.  He is very red on his chest and around his mouth.  The vet tested for mange and he doesnt have it according to the test but we are on a 2 month medicine just in case for it.
He has thin hair on his belly where he is so irrated and some on his legs and ears.
The vet changed his food to the ZD brand that is suppose to be a special diet for dogs with food allergies, but the vet said it would be 6-8 weeks before we would know if that is the problem.  The food is very expensive as you probably are aware of and can only be bought at the vet office.
We dont bathe him alot due to his redness, but when we do give him a bath it is with a shampoo the vet recommended.
The father of our terrier has a little pink but nothing like ours.
He is very active little time outside except to do his business and then we bring him in.  Most of his play is inside.
He drinks plenty of water and eats well.
What are you suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Julie - What were you feeding before you started on the Z/D brand from the VET?
Also, what medication is your little one on for the next 2 months....?
I can help with a few supplements and a possible food change over.
The Z/D is not the best food but it is the only one that most Vets will push...They get a big profit from the Hills Brand Folks...

GET back to me...OK

Thanks

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick response.
We was feeding him Purina One Lamb and Rice 1/2 dry 1/2 canned.  At one time we where giving only dry but then switched to see if that would help.
The medicine is called Resolution.  If I understand it is also used as heartwarm/flea/tick preventative.  We put a dose on him now between the shoulder and another dose in 30 days.  They did a mainage skin test from 3 spots on his body and they all came back negative but she wanted to treat it just in case???  He hasnt been around any other pets it just him in the home and an outdoor cat, but the cat doesnt really have anything to do with him.
I was thinking that the vet may be getting a kickback, but I didn't know that for sure.
Thanks for all your help
Julie

ANSWER: Hi - I would be happy to work with you along with your vet office.
Make sure your vet knows any vitamins or supplements you place your little one on.
Ok, here is what I would like you to do:
Mix the Science Diet/ Hill's Z/D brand with some Wellness Core - Ocean Formula -YOU can find this at any pet store:
this is what the bag looks like....
http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/dog_wellness_grain_ocean.html
You can also buy some Canned - Core - ocean, as well as the dry.

MIX a 50/50 of the Z/D and the Core for about 30-40 days.  After that, go to 100 % of the Core Food only.  Let your Vet know you are going to try the GRAIN FREE feeding with Wellness Core.

NEXT, Let's get this kid onto some Probiotic for possible overgrowth of yeast?  It won't hurt to do a Probiotic for a few months: LOW cost and great for his body and systems.
Here is one that I love from Nature's Sunshine:

Flora Force - give just 1 per day for 60 to 90 days.

here is the link-

NEXT, Yes, The NuVET is an Immune System Booster and I suggest your little one go onto the NuVET plus Wafer every day - long term:
VERY safe and natural....Let's fight off the allergies / I am sure he has some Environmental Allergens besides the possible food allergies.  NuVET wafers cost about .60 cents per day:  He will need 2 per day for the first 30 days and then Go Down to just 1 per day ....
HERE is how to order/ Guaranteed for a 60 day trial: or your money back.

If you go onto auto ship .....you will get a 15% discount on every order.
All the product is made in a FDA lab in California/  All human grade quality.
Call 1-800-474-7044, tell them Marie of All Experts/  Ask Pet Nurse Marie sent you ....
referral code 81098.
They don't sell to the public without a vet code.
NOT sold in stores,,,,, just thru Holistic vets and some breeders. Here is the link - to the E-store

Keep in contact with me:  We can also place him onto some oils to help his skin and coat.  I don't like to do too many things at one time.  Start the food and the Probiotic and also the NuVET.
After a little time, we can add an oil and some Vitamin E to the mix.

As for shampoo, NuVET makes a TEA tree oil shampoo/ Wonderful for rashes and hot spots.... VERY soothing /  I believe it is 9.95 for an 8 oz bottle....The ship out very quick right to your door.
I think you many be able to find some kind of Holistic Shampoo with TEA tree oil at the local pet store.....I am not sure on the brand names.
BE careful and make sure you only buy Holistic or Natural products for your doggie kid.

QUESTION: Thank you we will order the above Tuesday and follow up with you in a few weeks with his progress.

Answer
Excellent!  Glad you will try the Probiotic and the NuVET Plus....
The Probiotic is guaranteed for 30 days thru the Nature's Sunshine Company.  The NuVET Labs gives you a 60 day money back guarantee.
Boy, the VET sure doesn't give any money back offers?
I am very confident we can figure this out.....Along with good care from your local vet.
If you want, you can seek out a Holistic VET.... Sometimes there are some right in your BACK YARD, and you don't even know.
Ask a few groomers if they know of any Holistic Vets... BREEDERS and GROOMERS are the ones to ask.

Talk to you again , soon~
