Question
Hello i have a 1.5 yr old boston that i rescued his previous owners were having issues with time and potty training! he is on the smaller side adn just an absolute baby - he is a very good boy but i am perplexed by 2 things- he will wait all day to get crated and then poop in the crate and sleep in it! Or he will only poop on the concrete!! He is dog rescue number 4 they have a huge grassy yard with water and food and lots of kids to play with - we have 5 boys- but he just seems to want to go anywhere except out on the grass! any suggestions? we have changed feeding times, and places, and foods nothing seems to work! thanks for your time!

Answer
Hello Cass:  Wow, this sounds very odd for this little Boston boy!

***The Boston Terrier longs to be by their owner, the separation from them is stressful believe it or not. So go outside with your pup, and walk with your pup, and let him know that you are there, and not going away.

You may want to let him go outside with just 1 or 2 other doggies.  Also, you and your Boston can go into the front of your yard, or on the road ( walk way areas) of your neighborhood.   Give him this time, with you, every time he has had a meal.

In time, he will go outside for his poop.  Pet his belly very well and lots of praise when he does do a poop.  Also, have a piece of cheese ready for a reward.

Also instead of a crate, give him a little area of his own and put wee wee training pads down for him.

Best Wishes on this and thanks for the Question!!
