Question
.I was wonderinf if u can give any advice about our Boston terrier. We are so stressed. Our 9 year old Boston was playing with me when my fingernail hit him in the eye and we took him to the vet and they said he had a Superficial Corneal Ulcer. He has had it a week.Hes on antibiotics.Hes under a vets care. But we just worry so much.Does Bostons corneas heal slower then other breeds?Theres no redness,no pus.Hes not in any pain.He went back to the vet today for a recheck and they said that he was 25 percent better. They did a debridement of the eye.Next recheck is in 5 days.We are to continue the drops every 2 hours.(Ciprofloxacin)John hates the drops. Its a struggle to get them in.My mom puts them in and me and my sis help holding his head and then after the drops he tried to scratch it but we keep him from doing that. The vet said we are on the right path. But should this be taking this long to heal?Plz keep John in your prayers that this all gets resolved and he dont have to have surgery becauae it would kill us.Hes our babi. They said if it wasnt resolved that the next step is to use a grid keratotomy. This is all so much.Has anyone ever been thro anything like this before?Any advice helps.Plz and thanks

Answer
Hi Cami - Yes, this is a very common problem in Boston Terriers.  ( ulcerations in the eye related to injury)
Your dog is healing and some do heal slower than others.
How about adding some Vitamin C ( 500 mg ) per day --- hide in some cheese or wet dog food.
Vitamin C is very safe to give to your Boston.
Also, check out the NuVET Plus supplement - helps with the healing process, too.

I would get another opinion before I do any cutting.

Best wishes -  I know you feel awful but accidents do happen
