Question
Hi I'm getting a female boston terrier puppy this summer around june and do plan to breed her, I would perfer to own the stud dog as oppised to having her in someones care for several days when she is ready to be bred. I was wanting to know what its like with an intact male/female pair of dogs living indoors? are unneutered males messy and pee everywyhere? also at waht age is it reccomended to breed the female? how old must the male be?

Answer
A female will be ready to breed when she is a year old and in her second heat. The male will be ready to do his job as early as 6-7 months. Indoors, the only difference with an intact male is the hiking, but he can still be trained. I have a male and 3 females indoors and all is well. It does take a lot of going in and out with then in the beginning until they learn control.
Luck to you...Lisa
