Question
Hi. We adopted a BT from my brother- inlaw and the dog's ears are flaky and scaly. They took him to the vet and was given panalog and doesn't seem to work. Can you use an ointment like neosporine or will that hurt him? It's only his ears and nose. Also he snores but doesn't have any other side effects of having a long soft palate should we have surgery done and would it be beneficial ? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tammy,

Boston Terriers snore. Sorry, but that is one of the reasons we love them. They snore because of their short noses. You CAN probably have nasal surgery done, but please don't let the snoring bother you.
As for the scaling, Bostons are also prone to dry skin. I use T-Gel shampoo on my dogs and it clears it right up. Just careful of the eyes and don't let him lick it either. It is caused by stress and having just adopted him, you'll know that the transition to a new home is stressful, especialy for a dog who doesn't understand. He will calm down and heal up.
Best of luck to you...Lisa
