My cat stopped using his litter box..help!

Question
Hi,
My cat, Buddy, is a 7 1/2 yr. old male, fixed, indoor cat. He is very happy and very healthy. I recently moved to a new home, and being that I have an extra bedroom in the house, I use it just for him. I keep his litter box in there, his food and water bowls, toys, treats, etc. My problem is that about a month ago he just stopped using his litter box. He only uses it to pee. He started going to the bathroom in different spots just in that room. It is getting very frustrating to keep cleaning up after him. He has never ever done this before. I don't think it has anything to do with us moving, because I have moved at least 5 times in the past 2 years, and there was never a problem. He seems to love this house more than any other place we lived. I notice no changes in him at all except that one problem. I don't know what to do anymore. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Lin

Answer
I would have him checked out at the vet because of this sudden onset and also the fact that he is a senior cat now
he needs checkups about 2 times a year. If his stool is runny or diarreah I'd definately go asap

After you get the OK with your vet..you can try Cat Attract
litter sold at Petsmart. Its for cats that have stopped
using their litterbox (and have no health problems)
It encourages them to use it again
