Question
hello, we are having difficulties with feeding a 3 week old orphan kitten. We're not sure what to feed it plus the nearest walmart and vet store is about 2-3 hours away. My boyfriend has been trying to feed the kitten evaporated milk mixed with water using a syringe. we don't have much and we hoping to make a formula with what we have until we get to a vet. we've come across another canned milk called, Pet. I'm not sure if we should use it. its fat free and evaporated skimmed milk. we'll be waiting for your response.
thank you
ashley

Answer
Hi Ashley, you are certainly on the right track! Mix the evaporated milk(or pet milk) half and half with water and put a little ( 1 teaspoon to every cup) corn syrup in it and one raw egg yolk. Stir it up really well and heat it to your body temperature only, do not boil, and it will be good for the kitten. Refrigerate what you don't use but dispose of it every 12 hours. Even in the fridge it does not last long and you will need to make up a new batch.
If the kitten is 3 weeks it could also have a little baby food, meat, if you have any? If not, then you can start it on a little canned cat food. Just start with a teaspoon at a time and then increase the amount at each meal.
Good luck !
