Question
i got a 12 week kitten on thanksgiving got him home and everything was fine, then about 2 days ago he puked up his food, and then foamy spit, yesterday he didn't puke at all just had diarrhea. Today i had to help him eat because he wont and he puked once this morning. it had just his food in it. His mood hasn't really changed he still purrs, walks around, and plays a little. But I'm worried hes getting smaller in weight. i don't have a lot of money for a lot of vet bills, i was just wondering if there was something that i could do to help him at home, before i have to take him to the vet!

Answer
Kayla,

This baby is sick, he really should see a vet ASAP since he may require some pretty aggressive treatment to stabilize him. A baby this young doesn't have much in the way of reserves and they can get seriously dehydrated much more quickly than an adult cat would which can open the door for potentially fatal complications. This baby may simply need a good deworming (I don't recommend the over the counter stuff you can buy at pet stores, it's not very well regulated and in my opinion it's not safe, especially for use in pediatric patients like your baby), but it's also possible that he will need more intensive care like IV fluids, antibiotics or other medicines.

That being said I understand that your in a tight spot financially and I'll do what I can to help you out. I keep a list of organizations and charities that might be willing to offer financial assistance that would partly or fully subsidize the cost of your kitten's care. I can send you that information immediately, all that I ask so that I don't waste your time or mine typing out pages of information that you don't need/won't be able to use is that you contact me again with the general area that you live in. All I need is the Canadian province or US state. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
