Question
I got my cat mindy when she was very young, a friend of mine had found her in a retention pound during a rainy week. She decided to give me the kitten since I had recently lost a cat due to a snake bite. As mindy grew older, she never really gained much weight. She is very skinny and she tends to throwup alot, more often recently. I am worried about her. She is strictly an indor cat, only been out side when she was found and on one or two occasions for no longer than 10 minutes. I am afraid she has worms, her behavior is stand-offish, she hisses and growls at people, she isnt eating much, and she is throwing up, on top of been real skinny. Please let me know what I can do for her, unfortunatly, I do not have much money to go to a vet, and have to borrow money to take her, so I am trying to rule out as much as possible.

Answer
the standoffish, hissing and growling might just be her personality. so just tell people she doesnt like new people and they should not try to pet her. there are a few de-wormers on the market, like in walmart, the pet stores, grocery stores etc. start paying attention to her litter box habits. pick her up, and actually look at her butt hole . do you see tiny white things that look like rice? if yes, then this is tape worm.

have you ever seen something that looks like really pale spaghetti hanging off her butt area or in the litter box? if yes, then this is round worm.

if you call your vet and tell them you have seen either of these things they usually will just sell you the pill that will kill it. it usually doesnt cost much.

i dont know if the petstores or walmart sells the stuff for these two. also to control her throwing up, you need to do two things. buy food for her for sensitive systems. purina or friskies makes it and it costs no more then their regular food. also go to the vet and ask for some cat laxative. cat laxative sooths their system and helps them to digest things, start with a small bit of it every other day, then every 3 days, then every 4 days, etc until  she is off of it totally.
im sorry i cant be of more help but without a trip to the vet there isnt anything else i can do for you.
