Question
I have a cat probably between 6-8 months old that I found.  She looks to be healthy all but her right eye.  It looks black kinda like it has a layer of something dark over the outer covering.  I was wondering if you might know why she has this or what it could possibly be.

Answer
Hi Heather,

It warms my heart when people like you take in these poor little ones.  It sounds like she has a touch of upper respiratory infection that has settled in her eye; without knowing how long its been like that untreated its hard to know if the eye is still viable.  You should get her to the vet for some oral antibiotics and possibly antibiotic eye drops or ointment.  The sooner you can get her there the better, in the meantime you can use eye wash, the same that you or I would use, to keep the eye cleaned out.  If it turns out that she is blind in that eye its really not a big deal, she has probably already learned to compensate for it, cats adjust well that way.
