Question
My cat, Alley, is about 4 years old and is an average inside/outside feline. She is a calico. When she was a kitten she was hit by a car and it broke her sinuses. She lived through it with much care and she wasn't able to purr after that incident. After that accident she became a lot bigger, border line overweight id say, and developed a saddle bag of fat under her belly. We just assumed it was a cyst from the car accident.

3 days ago she went missing. We couldn't find her at all. Yesterday my neighbor found her underneath their porch and all she was doing was breathing and she was so lifeless. We tried to squirt water in her mouth and she wouldn't move a muscle. A few hours later she started having seizures and then she just kept twitching and meowing in agony. We thought she had finally passed when we couldn't see her breathing, but a while after when we went to bury her, she was still alive gasping for air every once in a while. Her eyes are staying open, and not really dilated, and not blinking and so stiff to the touch. We thought she had also deceased because she released her bowls. Now she is just breathing really shallow and sometimes it seems like shes either gasping or trying to meow. Right after the seizures stopped she was still responsive and would meow when my mom talked to her. After the seizures stopped she just laid there so stiff like and would just twitch.

Is there anything, anything we can do for her? I know this is cruel that we are letting her go on like this, but my mom refuses to let anyone put her out of her misery because she is scared they wont do it right. Is there any home remedy to either cure her or put her to sleep peacefully?

We don't have any money to take her to a vet and my mom is refusing to let anyone put her out of her misery because she says that shes still alive for a reason. This is my moms cat and she loved this cat dearly. I cant take that this cat is suffering and that there is nothing we can do and cant afford a vet and called all vets and no one takes payments or will even look at her without at least $100 up front. I've called every vet in a 30 mile radius.

Please help and offer any information that you can. We don't know if she was poisoned or if a cyst burst or what. I just cant take her suffering any longer.

Answer
Hi
I'm so sorry but the only answer I can give you is that she URGENT medical assistance.

I really don't understand your mums point of view. what on earth does she mean she is afraid they wont put her to sleep right? Could that be any worse than the suffering she is going through now. Also how does she know that they will put her to sleep, they may be able to help her.

I'm sorry to say that if you can't afford to pay for a vet then all you can do is to surrender her to a cat rescue charity who will either try and help her or if they need to humanely put her to sleep.

I really don't think there is anything you can do for her at home. Without knowing the cause of her illness it is impossible to do anything.

I am so sorry, this is is a horrible situation to bein. But sometimes the kindest thing to do is the hardest for us to accept. I know I have been there too.
