Pain medication

Question
My kitten was attacked by a dog yesterday. I managed to get him away before he was killed. He ended up with a small gash on his forehead. I cleaned it up with peroxide and put him in a dark room to rest. He is eating, drinking and using the restroom fine, but I can tell he is in some pain. Is there any over the counter pain medication that I could give him that would not harm him?

Answer
Hi Zach, How lucky you were to get your kitten before he was fatally harmed! I would really urge you to get him checked by a vet. Usually a small cut will not slow a cat down and they will not behave like they are in pain so I am concerned that your little cat may have suffered some internal damage when the dog had a hold of him. This will not be obvious on the outside but a vet can diagnose it for you and then put him on appropriate pain medication and whatever else is required to ensure that he lives a long and healthy life.
