hairless cats

Hi,

My mother and I were once at the mall, when we saw a whole group of people in the pet store! So, naturally we went in to see what was going on. And what did we see? Hairless cats! My mom and I are both allergic to cats, and we were wondering if we would react less to hairless cats? We are doubtful, however, because we have learned that some people are allergic to animal DANDER. I was just wondering if hairless cats make good pets, and if my mom and I would be allergic to them.

Two things:

(1)  Many people who are allergic to cats are allergic to their saliva (as well as the dander), so, since all cats bath themselves, unless you are willing to use an anti-allergen shampoo on the cat every day, it may be a lost cause.

(2)  Sphynx need to be bathed every day!!!!  Cat skin tends to be oily and there is no coat to absorb the oil, so they are a high maintenance cat.
