Feline upper respiratory disease

Question
My kitten was around my relative who suppose to be allergic to my kitten since I bathed my kitten in soap and water.

Is it common for kittens to get really wild like biting and scratching me.  She jumped on the shelf where my family pictures were.  She runs back and forth in my home.  She was playing with the cords behind the Tv.  Is it common for kittens to act this way.  Since I got my kitten when she was 2 months old, do you think she was too young when she was taken from her mom?

Please respond.  Thanks.

Question -
One of my relatives seems to be allergic to my 3- month female kitten when my kitten was 2 months ago a month ago.  My kitten had feline upper respiratory disease when I brought her in to her veterinarian.

She was given medicine and after that I gave her regular medication.  She seems not to have it anymore.  My kitten was sprayed with Frontline by the animal shelter where I adopted her.  Is it possible that spray caused one of my family members to sneeze?  I gave my kitten a warm bath with soap and water and I put advantage on her.  My veterinarian said its ok to use it on her.

Please respond.  Thanks.

Question -
Is feline upper respiratory disease contagious to humans?

Please respond.  Thanks.
Answer -
Absolutely not. There are very, very few diseases that can cross the interspecies barrier and standard upper resp. is NOT one of them. Don't worry about it.

However, having said this, I must note that they have now found cases of Asian bird flu in cats there. . . so who knows what direction that virus is going to evolve in?

Has this relative had any exposure to the kitten since it has been bathed?  In my experience, regular bathing helps reduce symptoms among allergy sufferers. You shouldn't use soap, though. Use baby shampoo or a shampoo especially made for cats.  What might be considerably easier on both of you than bathing, though, is to try one of the many allergy relief sprays, lotions or towelettes now available. For example, Simple Solution Allergy Relief Wipes, which should be available at a Petsmart near your (or online from Petsmart.com)  are intended for weekly use to neutralize the dander in the coat that causes allergic people to react.

Answer
Well, try the Allergy Wipes next time you are planning to have the kitten interact with the relative.

The behavior you describe sounds fairly normal for a kitten. She was, indeed, taken away from her mother too early. 10-12 weeks is the recommended age, not 8. So she hasn't been properly socialized. The aggression is normal under the circumstances but it probably isn't real aggression -- it could just be play. You should try to get some interactive toys and schedule some hard play time with her so she can work off some of that kitten energy. If you do this she will probably be calmer the rest of the time.
