Cats sitting

Dear Ali

Do you know if it is possible for cats to be looked after (when away on holiday)in the homes of others who have their own cat?
The cat is the mother of my two cats but they have not seen each other since separating at 12 weeks old about 10 months ago.

I hope you can help!!

I am really not sure how that will go over. Just because the cats are related doesn't mean that they will get along after such a long period of separation. It may be best for all involved if you look into a bonded, insured pet sitting service...Your vet should be able to make a recommendation with regards to that. The other option that you have is to try a brief visit with the cats and see how things go, if everything seems fine then by all means go for it. This situation very much depends on the personalities of the animals involved as well as whether or not the cats actually remember each other. If the cats don't remember each other the fact that they are related won't matter, it would be the same as introducing a completely new cat into the environment.
