How to stop my cat from peeing on the floor

16:08:13

Question
My male cat is about 1 1/2 yrs old.  Before we had him neutered last spring he sprayed everything.  After he was fixed it completely stopped.  Now that the summer is over and it is getting colder we are starting to close the windows.  He loves sitting in them and always have them opened.  When they are closed he pees on the floor at the foot of the window.  He still goes in the litter.  The only time he does this is when a window that he wants to sit in is closed.  I don't know what to do?!

Answer
Chrissy,

Like young children, some cats will use bathroom habits to try to control their owners.  One thing cats hate is peeing on Aluminum foil.  You can try to tape or otherwise fasten aluminum foil on the floor at the foot of the windows.  Also, you need to make sure you clean any area where he has peed with an enzyme based cleaner specifically for pet stains and pet odors.

A good link to a series of excellent article on litter box problems is:

It will have further suggestions.
