Non-eating Kitten, Strange Puddle

Question
Three nights ago, we brought home a 7 week old male kitten.  He was orphaned, hand-raised, received 1st vaccination and is currently on worming medicine.  Generally playful but isn't eating very much. Dry kitten chow and canned food (watered down to milkshake consistency available 24/7. He is drinking water.  He didn't eat dry food last night.  I keep redirecting him to his canned food last night and he ate "quarter-size" amount.  This morning (day 3), I found a gray-colored puddle on the kitchen floor; foul smelling, kind of slimy - mucous.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Answer
Hi Jane, A young kitten that was an orphan, sometimes has a compromised immune system. It is possible that the kitten is sick from the vaccine or has picked up some other feline virus. Can you see ulcers in his mouth? Is he congested? Does he sneeze or cough? Does he have a fever? Is he lethargic? If you can say yes to any of these a vet check up is required for your little guy. Let me know how things work out. Teresa
