cat with a cold

Question
Hi,
I have a two year old cat who seems to have a cold. Two days ago she did a lot of vomiting, couldn't keep down her food. I thought it might be a hairball, as she has long fur. The vomoiting stopped that same day. Yesterday, she sneezed a lot. She slept with me last night and had recuring attacks of the sneezing through the night. Today, she still sneezes at times, and seems to have a stuffy nose( her mouth is open as if to be breathing through it). Is there anything I can do? I live about 2 hours away from the vet, and recently had her spayed(3 weeks ago), and can't really afford to take her to the vet yet. Please respond as soon as possible. I managed to get her to eat some wet cat food this morning, and she is in bed now covered up with her blanket. Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
sounds like upper respirtory infection. she may be able to beat it on her own, but as she just had surgery she might be weak.

you can try calling the vet and seeing if they will give you an antibiotic without seeing her, but i doubt it. also, get some vicks vapor rub and put a dab on her chin, this will help clear her head a bit, just be sure to not get it where she can lick it or get it in her eyes.

other then that, she really needs to go back to the vet.
