Question
Hi... my cat Cuddles was pregnant and last night she finally gave birth... she was really big but the only thing that came out was just one kitten. She's still kinda big, like there's more in there. The 1st litter was 4 kittens.. all of a sudden it's just one. Then, she kept leaving the kitten to come to me and she was crying and meowing alot. She ate food then came back to her kitten, yet she cried a few more times. Could she possibly have more in her and they just won't come out? She's never acted like this before.. and I'm kind of worried. I found this website and I thought I'd find out before I went to the vet.. is it possible? Will she eventually push them out?

Answer
The rest should be born soon, if there are more in her. If they do not appear within 24 hours and you believe that she is still carrying more, call the vet.
If she is eating and seems normal, wait for her to have them normally, unless she is straining continuously. If she strains and no kittens appear, then call the vet.
Good luck,
Barb
