cats that refuse to come indoors

Question
Hi I hope you can shed some light on this matter. My office has adopted 2 stray kitties (so cute) anyway they eat and play with you and let you pet them but they refuse to come in the office. Its gettin cold out there. No matter what they wont come in the iffice or the shop.
Unstead they sleep in an old pick up truck. Which I am gonna load up with hay on the inside for them. anyway why wont they come in where its warm?
Thanks in advance.

Answer
This may simply (and who doesn't hope for simple?) a matter of the cats slowly getting used to all the kindness and food? You didn't mention how long these office kitties have been around (I used to work in an office that also had one), but it may be that the smells and sounds of the office might at this time spook them.

If they prefer at this time the old pickup, then pretty much the only thing to do is to put some hay and a few rags (or a yard or two of fleece from the fabric store - this holds in a lot of heat and I have yet to meet the cat that doesn't like it) in the pickup, and to keep only water (make sure it doesn't freeze) and a little food outside for them. You want to encourage them to come to the office, and the most common way is to do it with food.

It may take time, and might be a cool way for the office to rally together to try to encourage the kitties to enter the office. If they do wander in, don't do the 'Oh look! They're here!', though it might be tempting.
Cats like these might work on their own schedule, and could most likely one day just waltz in and sit on someone's keyboard.

If your office also hasn't done so yet, please remember to have the kitties get their shots (perhaps there's a vet in your town/city that does housecalls since I doubt these guys are ready for a trip in a cat carrier), and fixed, just to prevent more than two kitties at the office.
Hope this helped.
