Ocicat

Question

Sesame
My daughter is currently living in Thailand. A year ago she found a small starving kitten in her garden. No one claimed him so she kept him.  He has grown into the most beautiful cat, and we think he may be, at least in part, an ocicat as he is quite large (larger than her other cat of the same age) and has lots of spots - I attach a photo and would be interested in your opinion, thank you

Answer
Diane,

He is a red spotted/mackerel tabby domestic shorthair.  It is doubtful there is any Ocicat as Ocicats do not come in red and it is not a very common breed in general. Cats come in a variety of sizes and, yes, he is rather large and well muscled, but that is certainly possible, given the feral population in Thailand.

However, he sure is handsome!!!!!!!!!!!

Best regards... Norm.
