Feeding the kittens

Question
Hi Karen,
I am raising 3 orphan kittens which are about 2-3 weeks old and i am wondering what to feed them. We are currently feeding them evaporated light milk since we couldn't find goat milk anywhere near us but they are getting diarrhea. Is there anything better to feed them that satisfies them and prevents diarrhea?

Answer
Hi Nadine,

I have got a recipe for something called kitty glop. This stuff is fantastic. It will put weight on your little guys and keep then nice and healthy. I have raised 5 of mine on this stuff so I can personally attest to its effectiveness. Feed them what they want about 4-5 times a day. Make sure you burp them and stimulate them so they eliminate. Good luck and write back if you have any questions.

Ciao, Karen

INGREDIENTS:
1 lg. can evaporated milk
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not diet)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox gelatin
2 egg yolks (beaten)
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1 jar stage one baby food (chicken or turkey)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup Pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and water to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well.

Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator or over a month frozen.
Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer, thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature (milk form) before feeding.
