Question
How did you catch the cats, or are none of them feral?  I have successfully spayed 9 cat, but can't seem to finish.  Just when I feel I'm almost done, a new pregnant one appears.  I love cats and I feed the neighborhod cats, some of them have found my front yard their sunning area.  The spayed cats were taken care of when they were barely six months.   The ones that keep showing up are adults and unfortunately almost all of them are females.  I would like to move, but I feel sorry for these cats.  Who will feed them?  My husband says they're natural hunters and can survive, but I have saved starving, mangy cats and I don't agree.  Any suggestions on catching them(the feral cats)  and from discouraging the new ones from appearing?  Please, please respond asap. And calico cats are  beautiful.

Answer
Esther,

That a wonderful thing you are doing! Bless you!

There are many Trap And Neuter/Spay programs and feral organizations that will help you and give you advice. They have them all over. Write back and tell me your location or nearest city and I will try to find one that you can contact. Or Google: Feral Cats (name of your city) but without the brackets.

The organizations can tell you where to get traps (some provide them), and give you instructions on how to do it. Alot of feral cat organizations spay and neuter ferals for free, and sometimes provide free food.

Here is a link to start you off that has alot of feral cat information: (copy and paste, or type, the whole link into your address bar):

Maybe if can get a contact for free food you can have a neighbor take over feeding for you.

It is a very sad and endless problem everywhere. For every one feral cat you feed there are thousands elsewhere starving and dying. But you can't save the world. I know because I've tried.
