symptoms after a cat is no longer in heat

Question
Hi Becky
My cat was recently in heat for about 3 weeks. She's been over it, or I thought for about 2 weeks now. But her breast (I don't know the professional term for them) are extremely swollen they are even purple. They look painful, but it doesn't seem to bother her. She doesn't seem to be uncomfortable. Is this still part of her being in heat? She is only about 10 months old. I hope you can help. Thanks so much for your time. Have a Blessed day.

Answer
HI Tracey,
If you are positive that your cat was not bred......then she is experiencing a false pregnancy.  She may even have milk!  Don't be surprised if she "adopts" a sock or a toy to be her baby.  She will carry it around and mother it.  You may want to call your vet.  A vet can give her something to dry her up if she does have milk.

God Bless,
Becky
