Adult cat and kitten?

15:55:43

Question
Hi,
We have a rescued adult cat about 5 years old. He is spayed. I am thinking of getting a kitten so he's not lonely and has a friend. I'm just not sure about the sex of the kitten to get as I have read so many contrasting views. My cat has been with us for 6 months and we let him out when he wants to go out. He has been fighting with another cat in our neighbourhood and been coming off worse. I'm worried that he's not very sociable. As we have no history for him, we don't know if anyone has tried him with a friend. Any thoughts would be grateful!!

Answer
Hi Nadine,

That's a great idea. Two cat households are always happier households. Try to get a male kitten. They seem to get along better when brought into another cat's home. Also the younger the better. It makes the intro easier. Just make sure you get him fixed. I also wouldn't let the older guy out anymore. It's not safe. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
