Cats eye problem

Question
My cat has suddenly started staring at the walls , floor  etc. Its as if she sees something . She scratches at the wall after focusing on it for a few minutes. The floor as well.
I pick her up and move her away but she keeps going back to it.
She's actually marking the walls. Apart from this , shes an indoor cat , eats fine no changes in bathroom habits. Seems in good general health. Shes 3 years old.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Elly

Answer
Elly,

With any change in behavior that you can't change your cat should see a vet as soon as possible to rule out any medical causes. If you want her to stop doing the wall thing you may have to look at mounting a product called "Sticky Paws" which is medical grade double sided tape that is not toxic to the cat and won't damage furniture...I would suggest that you mount the Sticky Paws onto a sheet of paper or something and tape it to the wall using masking tape or painter's tape to avoid damaging the paint or finish on your walls because I am not sure how the walls will take double sided tape. It is quite possible that there is some sort of an eye issue that can't be seen with the naked eye, but it is also possible that the cat is just acting silly, either way it is best to rule out things like cataracts, scars on the cornea, head trauma (she may have run into a wall and literally be seeing stars, unbeknownst to you)....There are many reasons for odd behaviors ranging from a serious medical condition to a quirky cat acting goofy so I do suggest that kitty sees a vet as soon as possible so that if there is a medical reason for the odd behavior there is a better chance of treating it..If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
