Why wont they get along?

Question
Well my older cat doesnt make any noises when they're fighting.  The little one on the other hand howls and scream and growls.  Its true that when i do pick up the little one he does sometime go back for more but other times he runs and hides.  Is there anything that i can do around the house to get them to stop?

I have a 1.5 year old nudered male cat and have had him for about a year.  Recently i brought in a kitte who was only about 3 weeks old.  Now the kitten is almost 3 months old and they still don't get along.  I don't know what to do or how to stop it.  Please help me and give me some tips!

Hi Jamie,
Are you sure they aren't getting along, or could it be rough play?  I have three kittens right now, various ages, and they sound like they are killing each other sometimes. My little female sounded so pitiful, but when I went to rescue her, she wriggled out of my arms and went back for more!  Agressive play is very normal with cats/kittens.  You need to give me more information on how they are acting.  Do they chase each other? Is there hissing, growling, and general horrible noises?  If so,it may be perfectly normal.  My cats make these noises but when it's all said and done, they are sleeping together and grooming each other.  I guess that is the question.... do yours calm down and eventually get along?  I really think in time they will do fine.  Most cats that have a hard time adjusting will eventually get along.  It takes time and patience.  Be sure and have your kitten neutered also.

God Bless,
Becky

Answer
Jamie,
I don't know how unless you separate them.  Maybe put one of them in a bedroom for awhile for a break? Other than that, there's really nothing you can do.  As long as the adult is not hurting the little one I would just watch them and ride it out.  I think they will end up being friends.
