help to identify colour points

Question
I have four six week old kittens and i am finding it difficult to identify the colour points.  Dam and sire were both chocolates. Can you help?

Answer
Carol,

The problem is to understand what the Dam and Sire are carrying. If they are both chocolates, and neither carries blue, the kittens would be chocolates.  If both carry blue, some of the kittens could be lilacs.  You have not mentioned tabby pattern.

One problem is that the point color comes in slowly and not until the kittens are older.  So, if you cannot tell from the paw pad color, it can be somewhat difficult to tell what is going on. Chocolates have more of a taupe paw pad color, lilacs have a more pinkish paw pad color. So, one thing to check is whether or not the paw pad color is the same as the parents.

Please let me know what you find.

Best regards... Norm.
