Question
CREAM PUFF
CREAM PUFF
Hello !
Hoping all is well.
In November of 2010, I adopted a beautiful cat from the Humane Society who was born on 08/31/10 according to her papers. I had spotted her as she was placed in a cage and she stuck out both her paws and beckoned me....apparently we had bonded right away !
I brought her home where I live with my folks. I get along very well with CREAM PUFF (obviously a FEMALE) but she is not at all friendly towards my folks and I am frankly quite saddened and disappointed by this fact.  She is most affectionate with me and will come on her own and sit on my lap especially when I on the computer but she will not permit neither of my folks to pet her. In fact, she has scratched and bit them a few times and I felt very bad.
As you can see by the attached photo - she is extremely striking and basically sweet but I would like to know what can be done - if anything - to make her friendlier towards my folks.
Thanks !

Answer
Hi Keith,

Nice looking cat. The best tip I can give you so that she will accept your parents is to bribe her. Whenever your parents come around her have them carry a small piece of food that she loves. I find that rotisserie chicken works great. Have them come by her and drop the chicken right in front of her. Have her associate them with bringing good stuff to her. You can then work on the next step of having them pet her when she takes the food. Then the final step will be for you to pick her up and place her on their laps so they can feed her. This will take a bit of time but should work. Just don't rush things. You don't want to scare her or have her hurt them. Good luck and take care.

Ciao, Karen
