feline kidney failure and urinating

Question
Hi.  Our cat, Sherwood, is 11 years old.  Two years ago, he was diagnosed with kidney failure.  Recently, he has started squatting on the carpet and urinating large amounts.  Sometimes he uses the litterbox, sometimes not.  We have 3 other cats in the house and 4 litterboxes.  It's ruining our carpet and I don't know what to do.  Thanks!

All cats are respond different to treatment, but I learned a LOT of valuable info I don't know who else would have told me
