Sibling Kittens

Question
I have two four month old female kittens (Bambi & Mia) that I have had since birth and bottle fed.  They are two-peas-in-a-pod and always together playing, sleeping etc.  They also seem a little stressed when they are w/o each.  Today Bambi got into something bad on her nose, after finally catching her I was able to clean her up by wetting a towel and giving her a "towel bath" no excessive water just a once over to make sure she did not get ill from anything.  Since then Mia refuses to be with her, runs away, is hissing and growling. Mia is also hiding and staying away, we have to find her.  When we do approach her she seems very happy to see us. I am very worried since Bambi is noticebly missing her sister.  I also have two male cats who seem to be giving Bambi more postive attention now that Mia is ignoring her and hiding. Bambi is doing fine health wise, she lost a little bit of hair on her nose, but is eating playing and still as loveable as ever.  Mia just seems to hide, really wouldn't even eat, if Bambi is around.  Please help!

Kerry:

I would venture to guess that Mia is acting that way because Bambi has a strange smell on her from whatever she got into. Recognition between cats has a lot to do with smell.

If you take one to the vet, when you bring that cat home, all the other cats will act like Mia is acting now because of the cat bringing home strange smells and the other cats think it's another cat!

I am including a link to an interesting article all about the cat's sense of smell and how it affects his world:

Mia will be back to normal in 2 or 3 days, when she realises that Bambi IS Bambi. Just give both of them alot of extra affection, and maybe a special cat treat, and it will all blow over.
