Medicating my Kitty

My question is, is it okay to crush her pills, and add them to a little tuna? Or will this lessen the effect of the medication. She is on an anti-biotic, and pain meds.

No, it won't lessen the effect if the cat will eat ALL the tuna with the medicine in it. And remember the medicine has a terrible taste so she may not eat it. But great if she does.

Have you tried giving her a whole pill? Put her on your lap. From behind her head grasp both sides of her jaw and tilt her head way back. When her mouth is open and head tilted back, drop the pill down her throat past her tongue, then hold her mouth closed for a few seconds so she swallows it.

It takes a little practice but pretty soon you can do it quickly before she realizes what you are doing.

The vet also has 'pill-givers' that you can get.

But if you can't do it that way, the food way is good. However you can get it down her.
