Question

Daisy
My "Daisy" is a 12 year old short-hair domestic. She's orange and white. I noticed under her lower jaw area, it's turned a black color. Is this just old age? or something to worry about? Thank you!

Answer
Donna,

Daisy is a beautiful girl! Is the black under Daisy's chin like little dots - sort of like blackheads? If so she may have a case of chin acne... Try switching her to glass or stainless steel dishes and it should go away on its own... However if it doesn't you can try washing her chin with antibacterial soap twice daily, rinsing very well and drying very well... It should clear chin acne up quite quickly.

If the black under Daisy's chin isn't like little dots or blackheads I would suggest a vet visit just to be sure that there isn't something more serious going on. Turning black is not a normal part of aging. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me again at any time - I'm more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Kind regards,

Ali
