Question
QUESTION: Today my brother put cat flea medicine on my kitten (Which he definitely should not of done) after that my kitten licked itself and upon licking the medicine it started to throth in the mouth and we got really scared and quickly rushed him to a sink and washed the medicine off of him and washed his mouth out and made sure he drank loads of water. In the sink his eyes started to go all weird (Like he was having a seizure maybe?) and I thought he was dead but he carried on living and we managed to clean him properly and he's alright now. I'm wondering if you think I should take him to a vet to make sure he's alright? Could he of been damaged permanently? Many thanks! (He's only 1 and half months old)

ANSWER: OH DEAR !! Definitely get him to a vet... I hope he is ok.. Teresa

QUESTION: He's ok now though he's sleeping are you sure?

Answer
Ok... Maybe you are lucky. Many kittens die from flea control products. You did the right thing by washing it off of him right away !! Good first aid !!
Is he able to eat?? wake him up and see if he will eat. and then if he is eating he is probably ok. I just want to make sure that he is not sleeping because of the poisoning.
But a kitten that is poisoned will not be able to eat.. or even want to eat. So tempt him with something like canned food or a treat and see what happens. Is he alert?? Do his eyes look ok?? take him into the sunlight and see if his iris contracts. It should contract down to a pin size and then when he goes back in the shade it should open up wide again. these are all good signs... teresa
