Question
i have a male cat about 18 months old (stray kitten about a month old when my sister found him and brothers).  i also have a 4yr old female cat and a 3yr old English bulldog.  well my male,Gizmo, likes to shred with his nails and teeth whole toilet paper rolls, brown grocery bags, and any other type of paper product and i was wondering why he does it and what i should do to stop this cause my husband is getting upset about wasted toilet paper.  all my cats are indoorcats only and spayed/neutered.  but gizmo does like to run away for a couple days at a time.   please help.

Answer
Hi Tanya,

Some cats just like the feel of the paper shredding. There are covers you can get to stop the toilet paper shredding. Or just keep him out of the bathroom. We have one who does that and we keep the bathroom door closed. End of problem. Get him a good scratching post. He sounds like he needs that. And keep him inside. Cats that go out for that length of time have a really high risk of being killed outside. Good luck.
