training a kitten to be an indoor cat

Question
It is reccomended that kittens do not ever go outside, even when they become an adult.  How does a person achieve this when their natural instinct is to go outside.  I really need help with this.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Carlene,

There isn't much you need to do. Make sure they are neutered. Cats, if they don't go out from the beginning, usually don't want to go out. They will look out the window. It's a form of kitty TV. Make sure you have toys for them and have play time for them so they don't get bored. I have 13 cats and the only 2 that try to go out are the ones that were taken out when they little. The others have no desire to go out. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
