litter tracking problem

Question
Is there such thing as a clumping litter that tracks very little? I have 2 senior cats and have gone through several types of litter. I have 3 standard rectangular boxes around the house.

I just switched from corn based Nature's Miracle to the wheat-based Swheat and it's helped a little but not enough. I'd like to stick to natural litter but I'd change if the tracking problem got much better.

I also put more newspaper around the box and more carpeting between the litter box and our bedroom and that hasn't helped much either.

Answer
Hi Theo,

The only litters I have found to track significantly less are the silicone litters ("crystals" and "pearls"). They are not clumping litters - urine is absorbed into the individual crystals. So the pieces don't tend to stick to fur. And the texture is coarser, so not as much sticks between the toes or on fur and gets tracked around the house. It is not a natural alternative, however. In general, I have found that most clumping litters track about the same, but sometimes a heavier consistency is favorable (wheat tracks less than pine, for instance.)

Best of luck,
Jessica
