anti-tracking clumping litter?

14:24:52

Question
Is there such thing as a clumping litter that tracks very little? I have 2 senior cats and have gone through several types of litter. I have 3 standard rectangular boxes around the house.

I just switched from the corn based Nature's Miracle to the Swheat based kind and it's helped a little but not enough. I'd like to stick to the natural kind of litter but I'd change if the tracking problem got much better.

I also put more newspaper around the box and more carpeting between the litter box and our bedroom and that hasn't helped much either.

Answer
Theo,

All types of anti-clumping litter I have seen seem to track.

We like to use a covered litter pan and a plastic dishpan inside.  It seems to keep any tracking to a minimum.  BTW, we use hardwood stove pellets (available from most farm stores).  It takes some getting used to by the cats, initially, but it does not seem to track much.  We put replace litter 3 times a week and wash the dishpans in bleach water once a week (1 part chlorine bleach to 32 parts water). For 2 cats, three litter pans is more than ample.

We have longhaired cats as well as shorthaired cats and have had interesting experiences with wet fur and clumping litter.

Please comeback to me with any questions.

Best regards... Norm.
