new cat behaviour and acceptance

my 3 yr old neutered female refuses to accept our new cat, also a 3 yr old neutered female, she chases her and hisses at her and generally seems to not welcome her presence at all, any suggestions please.

You haven't told me if they Are new to each other or not. If they are then they need a period of introduction using the safe method. it takes some time but does help to reduce the tension between the cats. the process is described here on my website

If they have lived with each other for a long time then it may simply be a case of normal cat behavior regarding territory and hierarchy.

If wither of them has recently gone through a illness of surgical experience then this can also cause fear between the two cats and again the introduction process can be used to calm things back down again.
