young cat, swollen belly & nipples, has shown no signs of being in heat

Question
Hi, I was hoping you might be able to give me an idea if I'm just being a worrier or not. After a stray female adopted our family we ended up with a few kittens. We kept 2 of these kittens which will be a year old mid-April. One of these kittens has recently presented a little larger nipples and a swelling belly (she is not spayed yet). The part that keeps me from thinking she's just pregnant is that she has never shown any signs of being in season, which we are aware of the signs as the mother was in our home when she went in heat/ became pregnant. Any other possibilities?

Answer
Brennen,

It sounds to me like your kitty might be pregnant. Not every female cat is as obvious about being in season as the next.. I've met cats who simply want a bit more attention while others are howling and hiking their rear ends in the air constantly. I would suggest having your veterinarian confirm the pregnancy and give you and idea of when this little girl might be due to have her kittens.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me again at any time - I'm more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Kind regards,

Ali
