how much should a kitten eat?

Question
I am sorry to bother you again.. But how would I go about weaning the kitten? I have been told that i should "dunk" its head in the kitten formula, and soak some dry food in it, and leave it out at night. As well as stop feeding it at night with the bottle. That seems awfuly harsh to me though.
The last time I had a kitten this young, I was a child and my mom did all of this stuff so I am clueless.

Answer
Kittens should have as much of the good formula as they can for up to 10 weeks old.  They should be eating on their own long before then, though.  Dunking it's head is never a good idea, it is not only cruel, but the kitten can aspirate the fluid and get pneumonia and die.  Do not stop feeding the kitten at night, at least until it is at least 4 or 5 weeks old.  But do leave dry kitten food out at night when it is about 4 weeks old.  They will eventually get the idea that it is food, and learn to eat it.  Good luck, and write again if I can help.
