Question
we recently gave away 4 7 week old kittens and now the mother cat is VERY swollen from the milk she is holding--what can i do to make her more comfortable???

Answer
Erica,

We usually do nothing.  Nature will take care of it and she will "pack up" and reabsorb all the milk as it dries up.  Some old timey cat books suggested putting a very slight amount of olive oil on the nipples, but, frankly, we never found it helped.  The milk usually takes a couple of weeks to get reabsorbed, after which you would almost never know she had had kittens.

Best regards... Norm.
