if a cat gives birth to a kitten that is dead do they eat them?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  Most cats we have had give birth are indoors, and when we have had still borns, they did not eat them.

I suspect, in the wild, it would be more likely that a mama would eat a still born kitten.  Another possibility is that when there are still born kittens, mama may just move the remaining kittens somewhere else.

I am sorry I cannot give you a more definitive answer.
