chaos in cat land!

Question
okay, im only 14 so please excuse my typing errors. I own 2 cats one tiny calico and a big black cat who is shy they both are very sweet and have never biten or scratched anyone! we used to have an outdoor cat but he got hit by a car then we got those two. one day a stray cat came to our house who is deffinitly feral ! and wont let us beyond a few feet from him/or her . then my mom tried to get her to come on a table by our window, he and my big cat magic really get along the little but oldish calico, pj doesnt realy even notice her/him and when she does she doesnt care at all. anyway the stray wouldnt go on the table . i wouldnt either if i was her/him. my mother deicded to leave the food on the table by the window outside and just check on it later. later that night we hear extremly loud crying and then see a large grayish black striped cat outside on the table eating. i ran outside and the cat ran a little but then when i called her she came right back ! and rubbed against my leg and purred so loud when barely even being pet! my other cat magic was hissing and meowing so loud ! she never acts like that it was very scary. now both of the stray cats come to our house everyday and magic still is nice to the original stray but it soo mean to the newest stray. thhe newest one wants to come inside but we havent and are afraid to let her/him. we understand also that ther eis a possibitlity that she/he has an owner. so we are writting a message on a flea color asking if the cat has an owner. it is in the middle of winter and i feel so guilty about leaving it outside in the cold! and snow ! today the two stray cats crossed paths and got in a fight the second cat is bigger and i havent seen the original stray since they ran away together when i broke up the fight but the second returned with only a scratch on its nose.
please use this info to answer these questions. & i thank you !!

- what should we do about the strays fighting?

- what should we do about my cat and the new adorable loving cat fighting?

- should i treat the scratch on the stray cats nose, and how?

- why is my indoor cat only mean to the one stray and not the other?

- i really want the stray cat becaus i think she/he needs love and attention since she/he is always following me and trying to be pet and is just so mushy and lovey . while my cat magic is mean i feel guilty about liking the stray better but if the stray really doesnt have an owner what should i do about keeping her/him and the other cat i would not really want to give my cat magic to a pound i would never do that actually.

- THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME !

Answer
Hi Laura,

Wow, there really is chaos going on at your house!  I'll see what I can do to help.

First of all, if the adorable cat has a flea collar on then chances are he/she has an owner but putting a note on the collar is an excellent idea.
As far as the fighting is concerned, it could be that not all of the cats are fixed and they're fighting over territory.  Even if your cats are fixed if the strays aren't then they could still be fighting because of this.  And sometimes some cats just don't like other cats, just like you have friends at school but there are some people that you just don't like at all.  They will sort it out themselves but don't be surprised if you have one coming around and not the other, it doesn't mean anything has happened to the other one, just that he/she has learned to stay away.  Unfortunately you don't get to decide which one wins the battle for the territory but it will probably be the one that Magic likes and therefore lets in his territory.  You can put out shelters for the cats if you want to help keep them warm, like little dog houses that they can go in to get out of the elements.  You could also leave your garage door propped open a little for them to get in at night but make sure Mom and Dad check to make sure the cats haven't climbed up in the engine to get warm before starting the car!  They're probably used to the cold anyway, and the one with the collar, at least, probably has a home to go to.  I wouldn't try to let them in the house as long as they're still fighting with each other, you'll end up with a cat fight in the house in which YOU could get hurt.
You can treat the scratch on the one cat's nose by swabbing it with hydrogen peroxide or some other antiseptic solution and putting a little antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin or Polysporin, on it if he/she will let you.
If you do eventually take in the adorable cat in then you have to continue to give Magic lots of attention so he's not jealous, that will just make him want to fight more, and they just might get to like, or at least tolerate each other.
