My cat had a tick

My cat had a tick a few days ago. My mum got it out of her. But I noticed when it was in there around it the skin was red and scabby looking. Might it be serious?

Usually once the tick has been removed, most of the danger is gone.  The red and scabby looking area may simply be from the bite itself, as the tick will burrow into the skin to get it's blood meal.  Occasionally, when the tick is removed, the head of the tick will remain under the skin and can subsequently become infected if left unattended.  I would suggest squeezing the area gently but firmly to see if anything comes out.  If not, then just apply a little panalog or anti biotic cream (like Triple Anti-B or like product for people) and it should be just fine.  Hope this has been helpful.
