Questionhow can you tell if a kitten/cat have a fever?
AnswerSometimes their ears are warm, but really, the only way you can tell for sure is by using a thermometer. You can use a glass rectal thermometer or any digital thermometer to take their temperature rectally. They sure don't like it, but it's necessary if you think your cat may be running a temperature. Use a small blob of lubricating jelly on the tip of the thermometer to make it a little more comfortable. The thermometer should be inserted about one inch into the rectum. The normal temperature for a cat is 100.5 - 102.5 degrees F.
