Is my cat part turkish van?

Question
Hi Barbara, i recently got a kitten from the RSPCA and shes about 5 months old and i thought i knew a few things from having cats around me my whole life but this little girl has unusually long hair on her tail but its not silky smooth like the rest of her body. She also has slightly longer hair growing from in between her pads on her feet and shes black and white. some one told me she might be part Turkish van? and apparently they don't mind water too much and our little girl doesn't run when she gets the occasional splatter ( she pokes her head in the shower!) but looking from the pictures of Turkish vans I'm not entirely sure even thou i know she's probly going to be a mixture but i thought you might be able to help. thanks a lot, gretel xxx

Answer
Hi,

I suppose that it is possible, but there is no real way of knowing. She could also be part Turkish Angora, Maine Coon, Persian or any other long haired breed.
The color, the hair length and the fact that she is not afraid of water have little significance. I guess that you can choose what you would like to believe and no human being can really tell you that you are wrong. So enjoy her and believe what you wish. She is your cat and she will love you and be your pal. That is what is really important.

Best wishes,
Barb
